Willma Works was established by architect Alex Williams in 2022 and is the culmination of award-winning practice and higher education teaching experience. Willma Works is based in Liverpool. We undertake projects throughout the North West of England and North Wales.


Willma Works is currently delivering projects up to £250K in value. We specialise in the adaptive re-use and retrofit of existing buildings alongside environmentally conscious new buildings. Our Clients include community and third sector organisations, small and medium sized businesses as well as homeowners interested in enlarging and retrofitting their homes.


The creation of beautiful, comfortable and energy efficient spaces is our aspiration for every project.

alex williams

Alex qualified as an architect in 2010. She has worked for award-winning Liverpool based practices (shedkm, Union North, DK-Architects and Harrison Stringfellow) before establishing Willma Works in 2022.


Alex graduated from the University of Liverpool School of Architecture in 2006 (Bachelor of Architecture). She was a RIBA President’s Medal nominee at Part 1 level (2002) and featured in Building Design’s Top 100 Graduate Architecture Students (2002).


Alex is a member of AECB (Association for Environment Conscious Building) and is a graduate of their Carbon-Lite Retrofit course. Alex is also a design consultant for People Powered Retrofit working with homeowners interested in retrofitting their homes.


Alex is a part-time teaching fellow in interior architecture at Liverpool John Moores University (Level 4/First Year) and a regular guest critic at University of Liverpool School of Architecture.
